Falkirk were denied a vital away win by a stoppage-time equaliser in a 1-1 draw with St Johnstone. Ethan Ross put the Bairns ahead on the hour, but Enes Alic's goal in the sixth minute of added time secured a point for the hosts.

The result leaves John McGlynn's side 10th in the standings with five points from their opening six matches.

Falkirk started with a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Owen Eames leading the line and Ross operating behind him. The visitors controlled 56 per cent of possession and created 13 attempts on goal. The game's major turning point came eight minutes into the second half when St Johnstone defender Cheick Diabate was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Falkirk capitalised on their numerical advantage five minutes later. Owen Eames provided the assist for Ethan Ross to score his first league goal of the season, giving the away side a deserved lead. McGlynn made a double change soon after, introducing Craig Sibbald and Ross Maclver to try and manage the game.

Despite their dominance and the extra man, Falkirk could not find a second goal to kill the contest. St Johnstone, who had been reduced to ten men for over half an hour, pushed forward in desperation during the closing stages. Their persistence was rewarded in the dying moments when Enes Alic found the net to snatch a dramatic draw.

The Bairns' recent form shows one win, two draws and two losses in their last five outings. They will look to build on this performance when they return to action at home to Dundee on 10 October. Before that next match, the squad will hope for positive news on the injury front, with Aidan Nesbitt, Connor McLeod, Ethan Laidlaw, Joe Gardner and Finn Yeats all currently sidelined.
