Falkirk have completed the signing of Ethan Laidlaw from Brentford B in a permanent transfer. The 21-year-old Scotsman was the Players' Player of the Year for the young Bees this season, scoring 15 goals and registering 10 assists. Laidlaw spent three seasons with the young Bees after joining from Hibernian in the summer of 2023. He put together his finest season to date this campaign, starring across the second half of last season, scoring 12 goals in his final 12 games, including consecutive braces in wins over Colchester United and Millwall. His finest performance came at Gtech Community Stadium against Fleetwood Town, Laidlaw scoring a hat-trick in a big win. He followed it up with an early goal against Swansea City at the Gtech a month later, helping the Bees secure the point they needed to claim a second-straight Under-21s Professional Development League title. Laidlaw was pivotal in the side's PDL play-offs run, picking up an assist in their 2-0 win over Derby County U21s in the round of 16, before scoring in Brentford's 4-2 loss to Everton U21s in the quarter-final of the competition. Speaking on Laidlaw's move to Falkirk, Brentford B head coach Sam Saunders said it was the right time for the 21-year-old to move on and challenge himself in a men's first-team environment.
